The Acerbis tank gives you 3.7 gallons and then you still have the rack available for use. I routinely run 160 miles before I start looking for gas. More than 2.7 gallons is usable before reserve. Despite the nay-sayers who worry that most of the fuel is trapped in the wings of the tank, it isnt. It is a 100% bolt on replacement tank unlike the others that require mods to the cooling fans. Hey, be careful with that rear rack. It is only designed for 11 pounds I believe so keep an eye on your tank back there.

 

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. I was worried about the extra weight on the rack but gas weighs approximately 7 lbs per gallon so at 1.5 gals I should be OK. I was able to strap my tail pack on top of the Kolpin and it stayed in place very nicely. As someone else mentioned the spout fits inside the tank when not in use. I bought the tank and mount from motorcycle-superstore.com, it was an easy install and holds the tank very secure. I'll keep you posted on how it holds up.

 

That skidplate leaves a little to be desired. It looks killer but without any protection for the water pump I'd be nervous in any bony single track riding. I've seen 2 different bikes vaporize the water pump cover on rocks. I'm not exaggerating much since we couldn't find all the pieces (not that it would have done any good). They both had a skidplate shaped just like that one. Not rippin on your bike cause it is really nice I'm just sayin'.

Put me down as another satisfied Acerbis user. I finally had the guts to run it dry and had 232 road miles on it. That's basically at full throttle the whole time. If you milked it at 60 mph you could get more. The only problem I had with mine was the mounting bolts for the wings came loose until I put some loctite on them. Offroad would be much less but would vary by use and conditions. If you want to do the fuel pump mod it's just a couple of hours and 30 bucks to get all the gas out of the wings, otherwise just keep shaking the bike and all but a quart will spash up to the pickup. Some call it ugly but I love the range, convenience and big trip look.
