No the KLR250 didnt become the KLX250..... completely different bike... The KLX300R became the KLX250S, they added street legal stuff and dropped the cc's 50. THe KLX300R was out since mid to late 90's. the 300 is the same bike as the 06-07's most stuff is interchangeable.

Kawasaki KLX300R - Off Road Adventures Magazine

Dont forget they made a KLX650 and a KLR650, KLR250 and KLX250. The KLX650 is dead, as is the KLR250. I always looked at it like the KLR's were more street oriented and the KLX's were more off road oriented.

That is because Suzuki and Kawasaki merged at one point. Their plan was to become one company but public out cry changed their minds. Mid 2000's lots of the off-road bikes where rebadged Suzuki’s.

By sibling I was saying brother or sister whichever one prefers. I knew they were the same.

BS.

They are the two smaller bike manufacturers, so in order to compete better with Yamaha and Honda, they agreed to supply each other with bikes to help cover markets that each other did not currently service.

Suzuki does the same thing with Nissan in Japan with cars.
