KLX in cold weather... Thoughts?

@deej: “add heated grips and wear a full face helmet”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed!
Heated grips greatly extend your riding season in cooler climates and their warming effect cannot be underestimated. Certainly one of the BEST mods I have ever made to any bike I have ever owned.
As for the full face helmet, there’s just no excuse not to be wearing one!

Wanted: Riding partner, I'll even provide the bike. LOL

@deej: “And the heated grips, well I installed a set on the wife's 2006 XT 225, and she hasn't rode it in a year”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ha, ha, similar story here. I spent a couple of hours that I could have otherwise used for riding, installing a set of heated grips on my wife’s EX500r only to have her turnaround and sell the thing a week later!

I rode to work today and it was only 45 out but I sit at freeway speed for about 4 miles. My hands were not cold, nor my chest, it was my legs. Apparently blue jeans aren't very good at keeping the cold out.
Full face street helmet makes life much better.

Ya, agreed. I learned the (non)thermal value of jeans the first time I ever skied years ago and had no idea what I was doing…I bet I am still the butt of jokes for some of the others who saw me out on the hill that day in my jeans!
I guess I never considered the possibility of riding in jeans as I personally always wear riding pants (leather or textile) of some sort. I have a pair of insulated belstaff riding pants which remain warm down to -10C (~15F). Below that I’ll have multiple layers of long underwear on. I have never tried electric underwear, but I’d be interested to hear any testimonials – seems like more PITA than they’d be worth (?)
I also like having the armour that a proper set of riding pants offers…I feel naked in anything less.
