Finger Mullet got his bike in a crate guys...... where u been?
Yup, comes fully assembled..... just unstrap, attach mirrors, put in gas and go.

Mine wasn't like that....... It didn't have the front tire on, or the handle bars attached. There were some other small things to do also. It was a bolt together metal crate with cardboard around it. But like I said earlier, the race bikes don't carry any warranty so I guess they don't care who assembles it.

I didn't say they were selling it in a crate. I'm saying the pictures of it in the crate are intersting as I haven't see pictures of them in crates before.

Oh, I got you.

I saw mine in the box when the dealer pulled it off the stack, I had to beg them for over a week to put one together for me so I could buy it.
They called me when they got around to building it and offered to let me watch the tech assemble the bike (which I took them up on).

The rest of the story is this. I live in New Mexico and as far as I can tell every dealer in the state tacks on about 1K from MSRP. Virtually every motorcycle shop is RSV, so a virtual monopoly. The best price anywhere near me was 4100$, in Phoenix, 8 hours away. Next best was +500$ or a year older. Found a place online in Little Rock who would ship it to Albuquerque for me, 4300$ total. It's in a crate, wheels need attaching as well as handlebars and a few otra.
A buddy has put bikes together before, but not a Kawasaki. Me, never. But the setup time and effort was a bonus as far as I was concerned. Crash course time.

I am certain it is easier than you think. I am not certian I would let some random newbie put it together for you, maybe you should take it to a dealer and have them assemble it for you. They may only charge 3 or 4 hundred bux![:'(]

Dr Evil,

$4300 delivered to New Mexico sounds pretty good to me. R&S wanted $5600 for my 06. I offered them $5010 (MSRP + tax). After they told me "you're not at a car dealer", I thanked them for their time and headed for the door. We settled on $5162 (MSRP + $150 shipping + tax).

Where in Little Rock did you order the bike? Beartooth? I'm thinking about getting a 08 KLR650, and I wouldn't mind getting a deal.

If you're anywhere near northwest Albquerque or Rio Rancho, I can drive by so you can see an assembled KLX250S while you're putting yours together. I have the manuals too, if you need any torque values. The bike is a pretty basic design, it shouldn't be much trouble to put it together.
