no linky right now, I gotta get back to work. It's on the front page in the thumper section with a thread title of "show your luggage" or something like that. No story just the three pics. Should be easy to find and lots of cool luggage ideas on that thread for all bikes.

It makes you wonder with all of the stuff that he added, why he took off the fork guards.

Another XT, fully loaded!

Women bring more!

Deej would never let his wife do this.

I'm not quite a refined as these guys yet...just strap the bags on and go.

GPS came-in handy.

Japan Ferry System makes island hopping a breeze!

Pics from Hokkaido..Japan's northernmost island. Next two shots are of a quiet little city named Otaru, which is near Sapporo, in case any of you have been to this area.

From my campsite near Toya Lake.

Hakkodate 'Mountain,' day shot

Same place, night shot.

Goryokaku, the REAL site where the forces of the last samurai battled the Meiji emperor's forces. There was a fort inside of the moat. The last samurai actually surrendered. One of his underlings fought to the death.

Youngsters, chatting with old dude, pause for a pic outside the fort. I wanted to be stylin and hang my shirt loose too, but in the hot, humid weather we where having 'cotton is rotten,' so I opted for the Under Armor. These two kidsalsocame-up on the ferry. One of them (far left) rodefor 17 hours -with only a fewshort breaks-on a 2-cycle, 250cc racer replica. He wentall the way from the southern tip ofthe main island to theferry terminal at the northenmost point...covering theentire distance on backroads...OUCH! Oh, to be that young andbulletproof again! The fella to my right had us both cracking-up. He was touring on a shoestring budget, eating only two of these rice ***** with a dab of meat inside of them(called "onigiri)per day and drinking nothing but water. His baggage consisted of all of his gear, clothing, etc rolled-up in a tarp and bungeed to the back ofa ZZR250.The tarp doubled as his tent.Hisplan was to circle the island in a week. He was limited to the scenic routes because he had no money for the toll roads. I hope everything workedfor him as planned. I dunno if he coulda got home if his bike broke!

After this visit, I made up my mind to return next year and see the rest of the island. No more cities next time though. There's too much wide open space up there to enjoy. It might be time to add DS rims/tires to the arsenal. [sm=icon_rock.gif]

Looks like one of those custom fitted luggage frames that are desiged to handle a lot of weigt. They direct most of the force to the main frame of the bike, rater than the subrame. Looks like that one can handle some pretty hefty tail and saddle bags, or even the hard luggage. Many of your custom shops weld them right to the main frame of the bike. Don't know if I would want something that permanent. Also, if you drap on some saddle bags, the bars stop them from rubbing on your plastics.
