The clutch spring retaining bolt broke while you were riding the bike?!? I've broke one bolt like that but only upon assembling the clutch in my garage (trx250r)

Yessir! I also added assembly pics in my first post if anyone is just skipping to the last page.

You can see the bolt still inside the top right thread. Thankfully I shut it off right away, the bolt head was already doing some damage. Luckily I was able to get the broken part out with a flat-head screw driver.

Well I have about 200km on the kit now and man this thing is nuts!! I have just been rolling on the throttle (don't want to snap another bolt although hopefully that was a fluke) but the YZ springs I put in seem to be preventing most of the slipping for now. I'll get the heavier springs and clutch just in time for a little snow storm . Oh well, I'm going back out now to put some more km on her now while the weather is decent

I bet that made for some unusual noises. What gave you the first clue? Noise or did the clutch slip excessively? Good catch!

Yea it stopped grabbing then I heard a metallic sound, which turned out to be the bolt head ... I got lucky there.

If your BB kit is still running on the rich side, you may try using the stock slide spring and return needle to 3rd notch down as the the spring in the 2182 kit is very light, and as others indicated, you now have an increase in manifold vacuum . That could explain your initial results.
I just received an AHL 300 kit along with a DJ 2182 and plan to use stock spring to start. 132 main and 38 pilot. I'm at sea level.
I will post a thread when I get it installed. Hopefully before new years!

Let me know how it goes Stromer.

Unfortunately my bike will most likely be in the garage until march-ish ... we just got two feet of snow today Can't wait for riding weather!!

Ouch! It was sunny and 8 C here today.
I am just waiting on a few more parts and some time to get it all done. The AHL cylinder kit looks well made, the only thing I question is the quality of the plating on the bore. They list it as ceramic. No other details. If that goes away, it would quickly become a smoky rattle can. Honing looks decent. I will measure the piston/ bores and gap rings and slap it in. I like that I have the original if it goes sideways. I too will have to upgrade the clutch, this one seems to be grabby.

Fun reading SuperMo! Stromer, I too pulled the trigger on the AHL kit. Looks decent, fingers crossed. It is currently wrapped and under the Christmas tree. Stromer I hope you keep us up to date on the kit install.
Thanks Guys!
