klx 351 1/4 mile race gearing?
hey guys,
been running my gsxr 750 at the drag lately and constantly running high to mid ten's and was wondering how the klx would. i know its not going to run 10's but a crf 450 was running high 13's with motard setup.
currently running 14-49 gearing and running out of legs around 130kph (true) and was wondering would 15-49 give me enough legs for the 1/4 mile. also i want to gear it up for the bush as im hitting top speed alot on the fire trails.
aiming around high 13 low 14's
i know its going to be wheelie city
going to run knobbie tire when it wears down a bit
this is my bike running 10.897 (gsxr) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWuZPtK74CM

It would be worth giving a 15 tooth a try(will give you much more top end). If it turns out being to much you wont have much invested.
If I go 351 Ill probably go 15 on the front to give me more highway use.

i would go with stock or something close, and change accordingly. i think 14 you would run out of room at about the 1/4 mark if taken to redline. 6ths takes a bit to run all the way out. if you want to keep the revs down, 15 might be what you want.

says CRF450R goes 97mph / 155.2km max http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/arc...p/t-40486.html
Think my D tracker with stock gearing hit 140kmh
I was curious where the CRF450 ran out of gearing before the end of the quarter mile, if it did...

we are talking 1/4 mile time not top speed.
If he were geared properly he didn't run out of gear, just got to the end of the track in a hurry.
