Haven't tried it but I think it would suck as the little KLX would have no muscle to turn it like they like to be turned.

I haven't ridden one personally, but I've talked to a good many riders that I've seen with their bikes mounted with paddle tires at Moab White Wash and some venues out west like Glammis, CA. They tell me you have to have some pretty good horsepower to operate these tires with any authority. The most popular candidates for these tires seem to be competition 450 4-strokes and 2-stroke bikes of at least 250cc displacement. Weight seems to be an issue too. Our KLX with relatively low power output and hovering around the 300 pound range seems like a poor choice for running a paddle. Even a 351 kitted KLX produces relatively low power compared to what I've seen running a paddle. I'm not bashing the KLX by any means, but it seems to be a poor choice for trying to run a paddle. Again, this is what I've gotten from guys running paddles and not my personal experience. It would be fun to see someone try one out on a KLX. The paddle tire itself is somewhat amazing in its ability to transform a dirt bike into a sand rig, but it always looks like a lot of power needs to be on tap for it to work well. At Glammis I saw a couple of 250 competition 4-stroke bikes, a Yamaha YZF and a Honda CRF, with paddles struggling a bit compared to the many 2-stroke and bigger 4-stroke competition bikes running in the dunes.

I used a paddle tire on my RM 400 for hill climbing years back. You need to have the power to spin th epaddle in order to make it work. That bike produced around 60 explosive horsepower and it did the job no problem but our bike I'm afraid would not be powerful enough to get the real benefits of a paddle. You would probably eat clutches as well.

I tried one on the stock 250, and it would pull it up through third gear with stock gearing. I think with the 350 it would do all right.

On those 250 YZF's and CRF's that I watched at Glammis, they seemed to do fine on the flats, but as soon as they headed up the face of a dune, they had to really scream the engine in a lower gear to maintain momemtum. I think red's mention of the clutch in our KLX may end up being an issue.
