BTW, in regards to OAK's question about loudness - the 300 upgrade does not make the bike louder that I can tell. Sounds the same to be. However, I already had an aftermarket exhaust on, so I don't if the sound would have been different if the stock pipe was still on.

So the $470 includes having the cylinder bored out by yourself or a shop?

Not sure, but is there a electro-chemical process, that might be desirable, to harden the cylinder wall and piston, prior to assembly?

It's a lot easier than that - the 300cc cylinder and piston are bolt-on parts from the KLX300. The cyclinder is ready to go from the factory.
