No emissions testing in Calif on bikes as of yet.But leave it to good ol Calif to do it in the future. So many BS liberal tree hugging greenies here,it is ridiculous. And the laws they deam up are insane. Can you say, tall oak tree with a short piece of rope???

Any particular year KLX 300 for the Dyno jet? As for the slip on,07-08? What brand do you recommend?
I'd get a full system and not just a slip-on. The stock header is tiny and even though opening up the muffler is good, the engine is still hindered on the air it can get out of the tiny stock header. I'm going to get another BigGun EvoX. It will be worth it in the long run to get a full system. I already bought one for my '06 I soldfrom these guys. It transformed the bike and added ungodly amounts of power over stock. Add the jetting and 13-tooth sprocket and it's really a different bike. $390 for full BigGun. and the debate between slip-on/full system rages on.People who like slip-ons will say if you add a full system with it's larger diameter header, you will lose low-end. Philosophically speaking that may be true, but I never noticed any loss. I partnered the system with a 13-tooth sprocket which changes the powerband to add more low-end. The muzzy header is the larger one over the BigGun but I never cared for the musical instrument look of the muzzy muffler. I'm interested to see if the old bike's pipes will fit.

For the Dyno jet any year is good....but you can use the stock klx 300 needle clip etc & jets if ya want....check the sticky parts thread if you want to save a couple bucks, but the dyno kit comes with all the goodies and a drill bit for the slide....your choice and the dyno is supposed to be an upgrade to the stock klx 300 setup...but who knows.... lol

Muffler is tough....I got a full Muzzy, but a 340 piston too. For stock I think any slip on would be best...but you'll get plenty of arguments on this forum, if it was me I would get one of those ebay $250 pro circut slip ons...I think.....Big Gun has a nice full system too...but expensive like the muzzy.

Edit: See got a response before I posted...lol. Have fun with the klx....if ya think ya might put a big bore in your bike in the future .... a full system MAY be worth considering....a Big bore 340 ccis <$500 and makes a huge difference.

they're not $250 anymore and isn't the header pipe on the 300 longer so you'd need one of them to get it to work. I'm not sure about length on the old KLX 250R which became the 300R, but at $300 and above on ebay, they're almost as expensive as the 2 bros. I'm always doggin' on.

I'm sure he is a big boy and can shop for a pipe on his own.
