What is availible in the aftermarket world as far as pipes,air boxes,etc for a 09 KLX 250S??? This thing is just too stuffed up and needs to be uncorked!!! Maybe it is just California bikes??? Anyways,I've been surfing the net looking and have not found anything,cept this site,which is way cool!!!I ain't looking to get nuts,just let this thing breath a little better and maybe give it just a little more giddy-up.

 

Take some photos of the engine, carb, airboot/box, pipe and muffler. close up. Post them here, and we may be able to work out whether the mods for pre 09 models will work for the 09.
Wouldn't mind seeing some close up shots anyway.

 

I just got an '09 as well. I had an '06 KLX last year. the mufflers look like they mount up the same but have different part numbers. Only California models are more stuffed up than the non CA model which isn't saying a lot because they're all that way but the CA model has an evaporative canister or something to make it legal there. First mod you need to do is a 13-tooth front sprocket. Then, remember that this bike doesn't make any power until you hit around 6000 rpms. You can't open much up w/o an exhaust change because if you let more air and gas in, you must have the ability to let it out. And I can tell you firsthand that the biggest mod you can do is to add some type of aftermarket exhaust. The jury is still out as to whether or not the '07 and '06 pipes will fit because the rear of the subframe is totally different than the old bike but looks like the muffler mounts are the same. You'd have to look at both bikes side by side to judge. What color did you get? I got red. I just picked up an HJC neutral colored AC-X3 off ebay tonight for $47; a $200 helmet. I still got the same helmet in green for the '06 I had. I may sell it. Congrats on your new bike.

 

I picked up a green one.The dealer put togather a red one for me to check out,but while standing there another customer said that was a nice looking new Honda.So I had to go green.And amen on the stuffed up.Claif can really screw things up.New exhaust will be one of the first mods when I come up with something.I have had no luck looking on the net.

hey congrats on the new bike. I like the green as well and I think it makes the bike look taller in comparison to my red. However, I've already had a green '06 and I just wanted something different. I really don't know how anyone could mistake it fora Honda though as the first thing you see is the large "Kawasaki" sticker on the shroud and Honda couldonly dream of building anything as neat as this KLX. The red/black/silver/white on the bike is a combo I really like. After I get my BigGun with red spout and bage, it should look pretty sick. I ordered my 13-tooth moose sprocket along with some neutral colored Fox dirtpaw gloves today from denniskirk.com. Lastnight I won an HJC AC-X3 helmet in the neutral color as well for $44 on ebay. It is a $220 helmet and it's in very good condition. I'm not buying any gear the same color as my bikes anymoreas I tend to change bikes and then I'm left with off color gear. Like now, I have an HJC AC-X3 in the green/black/silver from the green KLXand a pair of yellow Fox dirtpaw gloves from the DRZ. I'll keep them cuz someday I'll eventually need them but from now on, it's neutral colors for me. How about some more pics?

Thanks.I like the red as well.But I thought it would be cool if my bike matched my sons.He just upgraded from a CRF50 to the KLX110.I was looking at the DRZ400,but I am a little to inseam impaired for the taller bikes.I also looked at the new CL 230.But wanted something a little bigger,engine wise.A buddy said Kawi had a new 300 DS,coming out but I think he was mistaken.When I went looking all I found was the 250.My next choice was going to be the KLX 300R.But I prefer a duel sport.Even though most of my riding will be offroad.

now can you yank that or is it something the authorities know should be on cali bikes? cool that you guys have matching bikes. both colors are nice looking imo. I had a DRZSM, they sit a couple inches lower than the other two DRZ's. I'm only 5'7".
