On the internet, the Honda 230 looks not too shabby. But, when one goes and checks it out in person, there is another story. The Honda looks okay, but is way out of date looking, its very small, air cooled, etc... I chose to buy the 09 KLX250s. My local Kaw dealer has informed me they are going to be a KTM dealership also. Damn, I sure do love the KTM 690. That bike is a bad-boy.

Meanwhile, I don't remember reading that you guys did your mods yourselves with your own hands. Nobrakes did his and posted an awesome writeup, but ironically, I don't remember reading yours. If I'm wrong and you've got proof that you actually did the mods to your bikes with your own hands, well- stfu.
I mean, anyone can pay someone to install a big-bore kit. Even so, I wouldn't go online bragging about some bigbore kit on a now prior design motorcycle that may push the horsepower output to 27 horsepower. that's laughable. yeah, you've got the big-bore, but yeah, you've still got a haplessly underpowered motorcycle that isn't worth the bucks you've thrown into it.
ahh, finger- your life must be so exciting as you sit at your keyboard anxiously awaiting on my replies. are your fingertips bruised from the anticipation?

Boy for not being a mod king you throw your 2 cents in about everything from pumper carbs, big bores, list is endless! I posted my work on this thing from spliting the cases to the big bore and cam swap, Why would you want to buy such a under powered bike TWICE? Ohh classic muffler king double speak.

LOL! M.K. at it again. Too funny!
I react to anything that might lead people to think that a KLX300 cylinder will directly bolt-on to the KLX250R (stateside)...or pre 97 'SR' in Japan. It's not fun watching someone go through that.
Not as much chance of it happening anymore, but there still may be a bike or two in the mix.
An overraction? Probably, but 'it is what it is,' so I'll just accept that about myself
'I know that you know that you know that I know,' kawispeed..and maybe most really do know. Just thought I'd clarify the bored-out vs whole new Jug thing.
It's all good.

To the best of my knowledge I was the first to do it on this forum or any other forum I checked.
BTW, a pretty florida girl on this forum also did this mod herself and did a much better write-up....so even our klx ladies have "dug into the klx" as you put it .. more than you. lmfao.
Now why would I post a thread on doing a big bore when nobrakes had already done so???? I got pics of doing it .... wanna see.
No body works on my bike besides me.

Hey one thing I have learned since I did the kickstart install was that you do not need to take off the left side cover to remove the clutch. Reportedly an impact will pop it off without grabbing the flywheel like the manual says and thus removes that step of the install.
Oh hey muffler king....if you look at the kickstart thread you will see my stock 250 cylinder sitting on my workbench in a couple of the pics.
