Default klx 250 a success?

I wonder if Kawasaki is selling enough of these babies for them to consider them a success. I hope so , and I hope even more the other manufacturers see this too......I mean come on, yamha is selling the XT225 for 4100, and Kawasaki sell the KLX250 for 4600? Hopefully they respond with something competitive...this callout goes for honda too! haha.....Sorry for the late night ramble but I thought it might be an interesting topic to talk about....

I think so given that my dealer can't keep one on the floor.

My dealer said he has sold 10 of them after I bought the first one here on the peninsula in Western Washington. Then a month ago I bought the 2006 Yamaha XT 225 for the wife, and it seems that I am a bad influence on some friends of mine, We just got back from Tillamook Oregon after picking up a 2004 TW 200, and a 2003 XT 225. Man I am beat, We left this morning at 3:30am and got back at 4:00 485 miles, I can't even keep my eybilsijbsjb;asj;sdvals 'SL, V, s, ; ; ,Vs; ;, zzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz z z z z z z z zzz................________________

I hope it's so successful that all the after market people start making lots of upgrade options.

First on the list would be an IMS tank that bolts straight on!!!!

I thought about it, and I asked myself a question. What defines success when considering the KLX? Is it sheer numbers sold? Is it the occasional "Cool dirt bike" we get from folks we run into? Or perhaps its something more than that. How many guys out there decided to get back into riding off road after 15-20 years of sitting on a couch watching TV every day? Well more than just a few, and if success was measured by motivating people to change what they are doing and to have fun at the same time, then numbers sold, high or low, then way to go Kawasaki, keep up the great work.

Deej, very good point.

I decided to get back into dirt riding after at least 10 years of no dirt riding.

The KLX suited me perfectly.

But... if they sell a bus load of them, then the after market range will increase.

Just look at the XR400. Man there is a lot of stuff out there for that bike.

There are two Kawi dealers in my area and only one had a KLX in stock back in Jan. I actually wanted to buy it from the other dealer who didn't have it, but he couldn't tell me when he might get more in so I bought it from the other dealer. I've never seen one back in stock at either place, and if they did get any more in, they didn't last very long.

My feeling is that Kawi didn't release too many to the US market this year, probably testing the waters to see how well they did before committing too heavily. I'm guessing that next year will see more since they are so hard to get with the limited quantity available selling so quickly. Lets hope so - this bike really needs the aftermarket support and the only thing that has saved our bacon so far is its similarity to the KLX300 which does have a decent aftermarket parts supply. For me, modding it has been almost as much fun as riding. Almost. I've owned other motorcycles when I was younger but I never had the money to customize. Who'd a thunk it'd be so much fun.

That's cool Nobrakes, I have had several bikes that include my first one when I was 14, a used Hodaka 125 dual sport, a Suzuki RM 80 when I was 16, a Honda CB 450 when I was 18, and a Yamaha 650 and a 750 about 15 and 20 years ago, I also had a 3 and 4 wheeler about 20 years ago, but this is the first bike that has taken me back to the earliest memories of that carefree time in life where you, for just a brief moment had not a care in the world, even if for just a few hours a week. "Good Times."

I hear that and couldn't agree more!

Now we're gettin' all sappy. I think we both need sleep. It's late here ... I think I'm out for now.
