i'll record one day with the camera pointed at the speedo and gps next time...what i have to go through at 5pm in san francisco city traffic is insane...there are no lanes...cars just merging into any space they can find....this little klx250sf can be very capable on the highways with the right modifications...

Is that you splitting lanes? The traffic looks to be moving along pretty good. And i see another cyclist in the HOV lane riding "properly" in lane.
I really hate cyclist that split lanes especially the ones who do it at speed. People like that give all cyclists a bad rep. Last week there were 3-4 bikes holding back traffic in rush hour so there would be a long break in the road which enabled the bikers to practice stunting their sport bikes, "In T shirts mind you".
I'm sorry dude but there is no reason to split lanes when traffic is moving. you are just pissing off everyone around you and possibly going to cause an accident, maybe your own.

I disagree about lane splitting. With enough practice & concentration it is very safe. I was a London dispatch rider back in the late 80's for over 2 years & we we're crazy!! Anticipating road behavior with car & driver body language reading is an acquired skill. The idiots just can't do it & ruin it for everyone else with stupid riding.

Might as well drive a car if your going to stay in a single lane & not overtake on the move.

ahnh666 you look pretty safe to me from the video.

haha, this thread has gone way off topic!!

i actually always ride between the #1 and #2 lanes...feel the safest riding there on the highway...keep maximum visibility...i don't weave around the highway and just keep my position...stay predictable to other riders...i never pass another motorcycle unless they clearly move out of the way or wave me by...i never ride behind or in front of a car...think it is more dangerous riding behind or to the left of the #1 lane...i keep my speed just tad bit faster than the flow of traffic, but i don't blow past other vehicles...but, i do feel like i am riding a bit fast sometimes, but with the klx250sf, i don't like to lose speed...lack the power to slow down and accelerate back to speed...end up always keeping the cruising speed...this is the result of riding a 250 on the highway....

MPH is determined by rpm, gearing, and tire diameter

At a 9000rpm the speed will be the same as long as the gearing and tire diameter are the same

Correcto mundo! I think what many people were trying to say in this discussion, and were mixing up their words, is that at 9k rpm the 351 goes faster mph wise than the 250, because the 250 can't pull to 9k rpm at all. gearing dependent of course, I'm thinking of taller gearing used with the big bores (15/39 or 15/42)

Get your carb from Niche Cycle. It was only $10 more than Ebay and they will ship it free. Amazing customer service is worth the $10 bucks.
