KLX 250 ( 300 ) camshaft mod by Marcelino

First Post
Finaly I finished reading all the post (it took me 3 days, of course reading 1/2 hour a day)
My opinion is that the Marcelino MOD its a great job to do in a bike like his KLX250EFI (like mine too) as he already prove and 3 or more guys did the same and are very glad with the results. The main question is rejeting the carburated bikes sold in the US market (btw I'm living in Brazil, here Kawasaki start to sell the KLX250 only EFI version with Supermotard dressed, and only Black painted, beleave or not).
So, as I could noticed, many KLX user who tried the MOD, are having problems with carburator and not with the MOD itself, and if you remember, in the close past, how many competitor got the first place, because he have on his back, a very expert carburator adjuster, so who are planning to have a MOD in your byke, take in mind that it would have a very hard job to do adjusting the carb, considering the: Location you are, atmosphere pressure, umidity, the way you use to ride your byke, etc, etc, etc.
As I don't want to deal with the carb issue (mine is EFI) I'll probably try this MOD as soon as I can.
Thanks Marcelino to share it with us.
Another ask to Marcelino, did you received the programable ECU that the Tai People promissed send to you, as I see in another forum?

Another consideration.
Of course I don't believe in miracles, and don't beliave the Kawasaki Engineer team, are so stupid too.
But I believe, the main issue is the fact that the KLX byke sold in Europe has many restriction on power because the polution control laws.
So what the Marcelino's MOD do it's reverse part of the restriction they put on O&M byke to obey that law, in a very cheap way, almost nothing, just the time you spent doing it.
Another thing, be careful, just because it call the byke KLX250 is not guarantee that is exactly the same byke, as you can see, if you buy a KLX250 in Europe same year as buy it on US you will get very diferent bykes one is EFI other carburated and who knows how many other diferences????
I'll open the CAM cover and count how many thoots are in the CAM sproket, because if you remember, Marcelino post it have 34, other guys from US say it have 32.
If the MOD works on Marcelino's byke doesn't mean it will wor in all KLX same year or not.
I know I'm not helping with this thread, but I intend to do an alert to the guys who believe in miracles and do the things with no care about the results.
Sorry for my poor English, and regards to everybody.

All the cam sprockets have 32 teeth .
I have the API ECU in testing but I will not post ANY results untill I get something conclusive . It may take a while because the only free time I have is some of the weekends .
I can't tune carburators over the internet , at the least I need to run the bike .
General rules for carbs :
1 ) the best main jet will give you the best top speed .
2 ) raise or lower the needle for best response with the throttle halfway .
3 ) adjust the pilot screw right in the middle of the one or two turns that the idle seems to be Nice and stable .

A question for those who know
I understand the reason to open the intake valve sooner but what difference does the exhaust valve do if it's closed later?
it only increases the overlap with the intake.
I'm comparing the charts from post 222.

The mod is complete for me. It definitely adds hp between 4000 - 8000 rpms. I am satisfied with the results considering it is free. I do however caution that this mod is not for the amateur mechanic. I managed to get it finished, but not after a new set of intake valves, head gasket, etc. Obviously, my lack of experience to blame for my mishaps.
As for jetting, I am getting excellent results with a 132 dj main, needle on the fourth notch down, mixture screw 3 turns out. I have a two bros exhaust, no air box lid and I'm in ontario canada (not sure about elevation).

I am inpresssed here dude , I did manage to get mine up to 29 horses , but not without alot of failure and trail and error dude , And no 300 cc kit either.
Way too much coin for a little guy like me man.
Wish I have the dyno graphs to prove boy , But believe me there are more Horse's to Be Had dude.
