KLX 117/119 Dogbones
After reading up on this new-to-me modded '06 KLX250, I've gone over just about every post on 4 different forums and am still not clear on what the OEM length is on the suspension rods/dogbones on the Unitrak. The places I've seen mention the dogbones usually only talk about how much they raise or lower the saddle...not the exact length of the rods. I've seen 117 and 119 mentioned as stock.

OK...I stumbled on this answer on a post about suspension in general on the KLX...117mm on my '06 seems to be the one. My links are stamped 117, so OEM it is. The reason I was asking is because this bike leans over on the stand like it has been raised in some manner. I've inspected the sidestand frame tab and the stand itself very closely, and it's not bent or tweaked. Just trying to figure why the bike sits tall. I don't have anyone else with an '06/'07 to compare to in my area. The suspension performs quite decently. Someone who knew a good bit about the mods to this model owned it, and I'd just like to know exactly what was done. I had their name, but apparently they've moved.

Tires are IRC GP-1's at 4.60/18 and 3.00/21...nothing unusual there as that's stock. I'll be going to a set of knobbies that will probably aggravate this situation.
Spring preload on the rear does seem to be right at the 250 maximum, but I'm surprised a 5mm preload from full spring length on what is supposed to be a soft spring would jack the bike up this much. I put a slightly longer shock on my KLR650 and didn't have this much kickstand lean. One other unknown is the fork springs, as I have no idea what's in there at this point. And really, I'm not sure that it's an OEM rear spring, but based on the ride and preload setting, it sounds like it.

There isn't much you can do about it unless you want to make the stand longer.
The difference in the stand length required when the pre load is set at min compared to max is significant.
Given you have to make the stand short enough to work on min preload, its likely to be too short if the preload is cranked up.
