Default Kick starter install

KLX250s Kickstarter

I just found this write up while googling around. I think the author is on KF, but I don't remember a write up on here. Nice write up so i thought i would link it.

I was going to put one on my bike this year but ran out of time. My main reason is it seems like the e-start has a little hard time turning over the 351. Just my experience! I don't care about the money, seems like it would also be a nice project to do.

I have seen that write up before and it's a good one!

Thanks for finding that, I remembered to bookmark it this time.
Is there a kit? Do I order for a KLX300?
The Kawi dealer looked at me like I was nuts, probably true, I still want one and don't know where to look?
Where are you getting it from?
Thanks,
Ben

If you go to the exploded parts fiche (ronayers.com) it will give you a kawi part# for the entire assembly. I have been wanting to do it but its pricey, 300$+

The kick starter kit for my 2006 is part# 99999-0073 its $301.69, you can order right there.

I was gonna do the same thing myself (from the fiche) but was too cheap to buy new. I had been watching ebay for nice used gear but in the end - bought a whole 300R to go with it. I feel so much better with a kicker.

That is a great writeup! Hey Green Machine if you don't care about the money, then send me some so I can install one too.

Deej,

I would be more than happy to send you some money but I just bought this new toy and my 2013 camaro will be here in about 2 months. So maybe next year.

I sure appreciate having the kickstarter on my KLX. Last year, I was riding in the winter and ran through a deep puddle. Deep enough to flood the carb out when the vent hoses get submerged. I had to crank the engine a lot before it started and I was a long long ways from civilization. I could hear the battery start slowing down but I knew I had the kicker there.

Also, these bikes are not easy starters in the cold. The battery is weak when cold. Nothing ruins a ride like a dead bike.
