Default Kick Starter Alternative (sort of)

A few rides back, and after a few minor crashes etc, we ended up with Rob having a flat battery.
Of course he couldn't start it and where we were was very muddy and tight.
No real way to push start the bike.
Oh for a kick starter.

Anyway, we pushed it out of the mud, waited for awhile and as luck would have it, the bike started, just.

We were well in the bush, miles from a road, and that got me thinking about installing the kick starter.

Well, I decided that there may be a different way of giving me/us some sort of back, up should we be stuck with a flat battery and in a position where push starting would prove too hard.

What about carrying a small jumper lead?
I never ride in the bush alone and 99.99% of the time, it's with the same mate/s.
Which lead to the idea of a semi permanent set up.

Enter the Anderson Plug.

By installing an Anderson Plug on my bike, as well any one else who wants to be included, I could simply plug the bikes together as required.

First thing was to install an Anderson plug onto my bike.

A good spot to mount it was onto the water overflow bottle.
This spot can be accessed without having to remove anything.

Then make up a small jumper lead.

The plugs will handle 50 amps continuos and the wire I used 60.
That should be enough to give the extra umpf required.

I will make a suitable connecter set up to suite the other model bikes I regularly ride with.
Another KLX will be first.

I like your thoughts there. That is a really good idea, and it looks really good in that location. Bravo, man!

You are wise.
Another option is taking one of your 'tie downs' and using it as a tow rope, bike to bike, to bump the trailing bike.

Thanks,
Gave the first plug to Rob today.
Pre wired for his KLX.

But this is one mod I hope is a waste of money
Like buying a fire extinguisher!
or insurance, or air bags, or burglar alarm, or...........
mmmm we spend a lot of money on things we hope we don't use.
