Kick start

RE: Kick start
Silver Otter did a Kick Start install, but I think he said he wouldn't do it again. Not sure what that meant, other than it might not be as easy to start as he thought? He even offered to help me install one if I bought the kit. I haven't ruled it out completely. If the offer still stands that is.

RE: Kick start
Funny timing on this thread, I had to use mine this Saturday. I leaned the bike against a tree while taking a water break andmy buddy says heyyour light is on. Bike would barely crank and would not start. We were riding in wet sandy Flswampland and pushstarting was not an option and my jumpstart cables were no help because my partner was riding a two smoke with no battery. [:@]
Long story short..... bike started on the first kick. That onestart paid for all the hassel of installing the kickstarter and saved a riding trip.

Manlier, less risk of getting stuck due to battery failure, and if you somehow figure out a way to remove the starter motor, a bazillion times lighter.
I'd remove the starter motor and install the kicker, if I could :P

RE: Kick start
I ordered the Kick-Start Kit PN-99999-0073 from Babbitts online for around $280 w/shipping, it took a month to receive and was about a two hour job to install, I kick start my bike 90% of the time; not sure why just like to I guess
It does not require much effort to light it off with a kick.
The kick-starter should have come stock on these bikes from the factory IMHO, I think they were trying to keep costs and weight down though.

I'm very tempted to do that and install it myself. But I'm affraid my skills probably are not what they should be to take that job. I was impressed with myself by doing the carb mods and such.
