Kenda 270s

RE: Kenda 270s
I also ordered my tires from americanmototires.com and I have to say I am quite impressed with their customer service. After waiting what seemed like an eternity to get my Muzzy exhaust without any communication of the backordered status I was amazed that americanmototires automatically cancelled my order w/ full refund because the tires were not in stock and would not ship within 3 days. They send me an email in which I had the option to re-activate the order. Its really nice to have good communication and options. Luckily I not in dire need of tires but if i were i could shop around without any restocking fee penalties.

Okay you have had some time on those new tires,, how are they?? Im looking at this tire or the dunlop 606... which one will last the longest and give the best traction on both road and dirt??

Just curious though - why would you consider the 606 over the Kenda Trak Master II? I think the Trak Master II is going to be a better off-road tire, but sacrifice some road comfort. For me, the K270 is a good compromise since I actually spend probably more time on the road than off - commuting, and actually riding on the road to get to the trails.
If I had to replace a tire right now, I'd still get the K270's. I haven't discovered anything in riding them for the past week or two that would make me wish I had bought something else. Regarding how long they'll last - I don't know; I hear they are good for a few K miles or so. I wore out my Dunlop 603's in about 1500 miles. I'm happy with these tires and am not regretting this purchase at all. The only thing that I would do different at this point is add rim locks which I didn't put on this time around. I haven't had any issues, but it would be nice to be able to lower the pressure when it's called for without having to worry about slippage on the rim.

Well, for me the Trak masters are just a bit to off road for what im using my bike for. My work is about 18 miles one way, and getting to the trails is a good ride as well. So lately I have been riding more on road than off. So the kenda 270 looks really good to me, however I still do alot of off roading and like the looks of the dunlop 606. So its between these two tires for my replacement, I need to decide cause I have about 1100 miles and getting pretty low tread. I'm just wondering out of these two tires which one will give me about 1500-2000 miles??? Any one have a guess???

Not from personal experience but people that have used 606 say that it is a fairly hard compound. This will give you the long treadware but probably means it sucks in the rain and won't stick on pavement like the gummy 603.

Haven't put on my 606 yet, but as I was looking at the brand new 606 and the Kenda K270 side by side in the shop, the 606 is a good inch taller overall. just thought you guys should know. Also the sidewall on the 606 is so hard I can barely get it to flex while the Kenda is pretty soft. Both are 3 ply side and top, but if you are worried about big sharp rocks and sticks, I have a sneaky su****ion that the 606 will hold up a lot better. But that's just an observation, there are probably good reviews for both tires out there.
