Keihin CVK 34

Got another CVK carb from dpippin, thanks alot, bike starts better, accelerates fine, but has decel popping. 35 pilot installed. Opened pilot screw up from 2.5 to 3 turns without much change. Would a 40 pilot help with a lot of the decel popping? Thanks....tonebone

First make sure all exhaust joints are sealed tight and not leaking. This means the attach at the head, and the header-to-midpipe connection.
Make sure air injection system is properly removed and all exposed nipples capped off well.
Once the above has been taken care of, and if decel pops are still present, a #40 pilot jet allows full control of decel fueling - allowing you to tune out decel pops if the above problems are not present.

A #38 @ 3 out should not decel pop if everything else is ok. You likely have one or more of the above issues.
In the meantime, going to 3.5 turns out should make some kind of difference.
Header to head is nuts and studs, collar, and metal gasket.
Header to midpipe (with your FMF slipon) is a metal to metal slip fit with the strong band-clamp / muffler clamp to keep it all leak proof. There should be a thin film of high temp silicone on the slip fit..
There is no sense in running your pilot system overly rich in an attempt to cover up a mechanical flaw. Get the exhaust system right, get the air pump system removed and capped off well, then enjoy..

Removing exhaust and checking condition of seals/ gaskets etc. anyone know if this is a stock head pipe? It’s connected to an FMF Q4. Not sure if it’s a full system or just a slip on. By the way , head pipe to slip on had no clamp or sealant, just friction fit....Thanks

Well, deleted the emmisions/smog system. Removed and replaced/tightened the exhaust system, and now the bike runs/idles real well. No decel popping at all. I am finally satisfied with how the bike starts, idles and performs. Thanks to everyone on this forum for thier help and suggestions, much appreciated....Tonebone
