Default Kawasaki Ninja EX-250F throttle return

Quick question. Should a crotch rockets throttle be quick to return to idle like our bikes throttle is? It has the same exact carburetor, just 2 of them from the looks of it. My friend broke down on the side of the road yesterday and it was a fuel issue and the throttle was very bouncy returning to idle and was not "snappy" like our bikes throttles are at all.

Yes it should.

I thought so, he actually has the same bike as you have in your signature from the looks of it. 06 yellow ninja 250.

What is up with the two carbys? Have you been in there yet? I might insist that we pull it apart this weekend and give the carby a nice bath.

Mine is the 500 but they are very similar. I had my carbs off a few weeks ago, cleaned them, drilled out the pilot screw covers set the float height etc. I also adjusted the valves.

The carbs don't need to be broken apart. You just leave them attached to each other and clean them.

Runs like a top now.

The throttle response on crotch rockets is faster. It is faster to rev and faster to return to idle. This isn't because of the carbs as much as the very lightweight flywheel.

Carbs likely need to be cleaned or adjusted or both.

I didn't call the ex250 a crotch rocket, Jhoff did, I spoke about crotch rockets in general which I have ridden. Just not an EX250. Pretty weak?

Compared to other sportbikes yes, but they have about 28hp and weigh about the same as the klx so they are pretty quick relative to other 250's. Problem is the power is up in the higher RPM ranges and they just don't have the low down torque of a KLX.

I would not trade my tarded 331 for a ninja 250, unless i was looking for a dedicated track machine. The KLX makes a much better street bike than the EX250 IMO, especially with a big bore.
