Just Picked up a Full 300 Exhaust
Just scored a KLX 300 exhaust on ebay for $37.99 shipped. If nothing else it will let me use the more cost effective slip ons later on. I'll have pics, even though it looks the same and sound clips if it sounds any better than stock. Dazjr sent me 2 mp3's of his with the spark arrestor removed and one with a custom plate he made up and lemme tell ya, like that it sounds pretty mean!

good job on that purchase- but the header pipe is still crap. the only good thing about that system you bought is the muffler as it has a removable tip that needs to be removed (some call it the buttplug), our 250's don't have that. every pipe review i've read says the 300 muffler makes good power, but needs a new header to be really effective. the header is essentially the same diameter as our 250's, so it's still being smothered after exiting. get yourself a fourstrokeworks.com header for $140 and be done with it. that'd be a decent system for the price.

I was thinking about heading in that direction with it but the FSW header wouldn't have worked with the stock muffler correct? This way I can piece it together as my budget allows and for now I can take away some of the sewing machine sound and make it sound like a proper small thumper.....hopefully.

I hope you like your exhaust. I forgot to tell you one thing that I did to my exhaust. I used a die grinder to remove the weld on the ID of the flange that bolts to the cylinder head. I did this to the stock exhaust and the 300 exhaust. I have no idea if it did anything, but I feel better having removed it.
