Just got a 2nd set of wheels!
Well, a spot of luck when I randomly did a search for KLX wheels on eBay last night and was amazed to see a set of 1998 model KLX300 wheels! Tehy aren't in great shape, but it's more the hubs that I think are valuable. I am going to put a set of more road biased tyres on them to use in my daily commuting to/from work, and save the current set I have with my D606's as my weekend specials.
Front wheel: useable disc, speedo gear & a Dunlop wheel which is about 60-70%. Given I will be fitting a Vapor speedo this coming weekend, hopefully it won't be a problem that these hubs have a manual speedo gear rather than my 2010 models magnetic speedo. It's just important to me that the hub fits and the brake disk is in the right position.
Rear: useable disc, sprocket & a tyre which is about 40-50%. It has a few small dents and at least 2 cracks in the side of the rim (pics at bottom, but not clear). From what I understand the rear wheel hub fits the 2010 model perfectly, but I'll let you know when I get them.
As you can see the spokes and rim are not in great shape. When I can inspect them properly I'll make a call on whether they are safe or not. If they aren't I will probably have to get a new rim and get it re-laced with new spokes. I guess that'll be expensive though, so hopefully I can avoid that.
Morel of the story - if you want KLX parts, keep an eye on eBay every few days!

I finally got around to test fitting the new rims today. After a fair amount of pain changing the rear tyre myself at home without any special tools, I can confirm that the rear axle off the the 1998 KLX300 fits the 2010 KLX250s perfectly. My only problem was that the sprocket that came with the wheel is a 50 tooth so my chain was too short for me to use the wheel just yet. I'm going to order a new 46 tooth from Rocky Mountain ATV to fit up to this wheel.
On the front wheel side of things, unfortunately it is not that simple. The 1998 wheel axle is a bit shorter than the 2010 model. I am going to start a new thread with more pics and see if the community can help with any quick and easy solutions to use the wheel.

Yesterday I got my brother to help me change the rear sprocket and fitted up the wheel. After a test ride I can tell you that it's a perfect fit and works beautifully.
For those interested, on the 2010 model KLX250s, with a 13 tooth sprocket on the front, and a 46 teeth on the rear, you need a 108 link chain.
