Just brought home my '09 KLX-250S, and did some riding
I got back from vacation Wed. night and this morning (Thurs.) my dad and I picked it up. Its a dang sweet bike. It had like 2 miles on it and dad drove it home (~10 mi.) and we finished the day with 78, so I rode it a good 60 miles. I'm a total noob on motorcycles so the first four miles were laps of my yard mastering slipping the clutch Otherwise, all streets with very few trips off pavement. Dumped it over late in the afternoon, broke the tip of the clutch lever. No biggie, it was bound to happen eventually, luckily it was on a dirt road at 2 mph and nothing else was affected.
I love it, I'm hooked to cycling now.
A couple pics I snagged; I couldn't find the size limits for images, these are 1024/768, if that's too big I can resize.

Cliffsta,
Two words for ya - hand guards. Your new clutch lever is about 13 bucks from the dealer (yeah, been there done that) and for less than 100 you can get some guards and never have to worry about it again. Poke around on this site and you'll find several threads about the various brands.
Now go have some fun on your new bike.

Point taken, though in my case the number is closer to 5. Mayhaps I erred in using the cost of the lever as an economic incentive.
Perhaps what I should have said was "for less than the cost of an ER visit to fix that busted hand caused by that overhanging tree branchyou can get some guards that offer some handprotection, and as an added bonus may save your levers the next time you dump the bike".
