Oh, heck. I forgot to tell you about my new top end speed when richening my jets. So, with the 250 DJ kit installed with the 128 main jet, I was getting about 82 mph wide open. I ran the same exact stretch of road, same time of day, temperature, etc. with the 300 kit installed and a 132 main jet and I hit 93 mph!!! I was grinning from ear to ear. There are two things I've learned about this bike. One, it is SO forgiving in the range of jets you can throw at it and it will make due and keep going reasonably well. The second is how much this bike loves fuel. It seems like the richer I go the better the bike gets. BTW, I went around to all my local bike shops and couldn't find a 38 pilot. I found a 40 and dropped that in. Set the A/F screw to 1 1/2 turns out to compensate. It seems ok but I'd still like to go with the 38 at around 2 or 2 1/2 turns.

Bit short for a thesis, but yes "the dynamics are not that simple."

Get a #138 main jet and you'll have the same jetting as me, although I'm running the N1RX needle. 93 mph is pretty decent. Now lower your stock gearing and get it dirty.
