- Needle Jet P-4

Kawasaki 300cc w/ Wiseco piston, stock exhaust, KDX snorkel, UNI filter.

Starts with a twist of the throttle, very slight stutter at 6,000 rpm but stalls occasionally when coming down to idle. Full throttle needed to start when hot. Will try moving needle clip down one notch, 1.0 PAJ and checking float height.
I wonder if your to rich on the pilot circuit. The 1.0 PAJ should lean it out and possibly help with your stalling on decel and hot starting. With the 300cc cylinder the P4 might be lean causing the 6k stutter depending on the throttle position at the 6k, if it's above about 3/4 throttle it will be the main jet that needs to be changed. Mine with the stock P8 doesn't seem to have that problem. Keep us posted with your findings.

I tried everything I could possibly think of and could not get it to run clean off idle, so off came the TM. I put the CV back on with the 132 MJ from the Dynojet KLX250S kit (already had needle and spring), moved the needle up a notch and Bob's your uncle - it runs like a champ.
I'll give the pumper another go once I forget just how much I hate removing and installing the carb.

$50-60 and your stock carb can be "Dialed in" for whatever performance mods you want to run ( MCM, slip-on, full exhaust system, lidless, etc )
$300+ for a TM, plus parts for running a forum derived, known working setup..
I don't have first hand experience with a TM on our KLX's - Through our members that do, I get an idea of what it's like - and in my little world, it's nice to run a TM..lol
My throttle response is, no doubt, not as abrupt and as powerful as it would be with a TM - but it is powerful enough to pull a wheelie by just snapping WOT in first gear..
Can I ask what setup you have to do wheelies with just wot?

The key for me was a 48 tooth rear sprocket.

KLX351 didn't do it.
Jetting the CV carb didn't
The TM brought it pretty close

The 48 tooth rear sprocket did it completely.

will the bike still do highway speeds with that sprocket?

That's frustrating. The carbs are not fun to take off and put back on for sure.

I'm running a 13/49, while its great on there trails where I do most of my riding, it is to low for much highway riding at highway speeds. It also did not make it a wheelie machine.

Todays update, I removed the carb and installed the following jetting.
main jet 127.5
needle jet P-6
needle 9EBY01-51 on the middle clip
stock pilot air jet.
I put on the KDX snorkel a couple weeks ago.

The bike seems to run really good, I might end up tweaking with it a little more but for now I'm going to ride it like it is.

The only thing that seems strange on this carb is after a decal or a riding with no throttle it feels a little sticky when you initially start to open the slide. it doesn't do it when the bike is off, and there is nothing hanging up on the throttle wheel or cable.

Remember, you are now pulling up the slide against that vacuum. It may be sticky compared to the light butterfly in the stock carb. On the really trick flat slide road race carbs some had actual ball bearing supported slides and the slides were angled to ease the throttle movement with the high rpm shut offs and all that they experience.

I'm sure someone else using a 36 flat slide will have comment about this.

Thanks Rock Hugger for all the updates. Simple question: When you whack the throttle off idle now does it bring a smile to your face or does it fall somewhere below initial expectations?
