jet change, i done messed up. help needed
hey everyone,
first post and its a good one
i have an 07 klx 250 and so far i have done the KDX snorkel (bike came with K&N filter) a 2 brothers slip on and i have a power bomb header that i hadn't installed yet because i was worried about running lean with stock jets (i did put it on and ran lidless on a quick ride just to see how it felt and the bike ran pretty crappy and starved for fuel above 6k rpm so i put the lid back on and stock header)
last night i attempted to do the jets and all was going well until put a hole in the float bowl, obviously drilling in the wrong spot for the epa plug
knowing this probably wouldn't work and was a horrible idea i plugged the hole with some of the high temp silicone that i was using for the 2 brothers slip on/FMF header... this is probably a terrible idea, right? even if the silicone dries i have concerns with gas eating it away and taking chunks of silicon into the carb (the whole is about an 1/8 inch).
second, i didn't take my gas tank fully off to get to the top of the carb and ended up tearing the main fuel hose. with that being said, the carb is still dry and no fuel has run into the bowl with my plug in.
the dyno jet kit that i got did not come with a new needle so i added the 2 shims to the stock needle and swapped the #35 main jet. i was not able to get my screw driver into the pilot jet hole so i left that stock (for now) and i did eventually succeed with the mixer screw under the "real" plug.
so long story short, just looking for confirmation my plug job is a horrible idea or if it should hold up and if i'm going to absolutely need to go back and change the pilot jet? looks like i can't order just a new float bowl so i'm trying to avoid having to buy a total assembly.
elevation is maybe 500 ft FYI.

At least JB Weld or PC7 if they will resist the gas. Still I'd find a used float bowl or a used carb, whichever is cheaper. You might be able to buy a float bowl from a source like Jets-R-Us, but I don't know for sure.
As for Dyno Jet, KLXter is definitely the go to person for that.

The needle is really the prime element of the dynojet kit that you're paying for. You can get larger main and pilot jets for a few bucks from ma Kawi and drill bits from the big orange place to remove the fuel screw cover. I recall just a few members (if that) here who've done the Sigma kit and I don't recall what they said about performance gains.
