So this is getting close. I find out on the 13th if I have the funds to do it. I've emailed every dealership within driving distance for year, color, and price. $5270 out the door for a 2012 green one is in the lead. $5312 for 2012 red is in 2nd. I would prefer green. Not crossing fingers. Have had bad luck with crossing fingers.

Not to talk you out of buying new, I love new stuff, but you could save 2k on a used bike. I got my 2009 from a dealer last year, 1000 miles on the odo, $3200 OTD. Glad I did because I've dropped it a bunch of times. If you don't drop it then you're not riding hard enough. Just sayin. Everyone and their mothers has green and red is faster.

Buy used to save the $2,000 and use that money for a big bore kit and various other mods that you *WILL* eventually get.

Yanno, I'm usually a used guy. I never buy brand new cars because of the money you lose. For some reason, I want this bike new, and that won't make me afraid to drop it in the least. No dealers have any used ones and most people on Craigslist are a mess. No title, asking way too much, can't be reasoned with, etc...

Also, just got an offer for $4800...in red. $400 might change my mind about the color.

+1 on buying used! Forget the fact you'll save $2k +.. If you're going off-road the 06/07 has the superior suspension. ALSO - the 6th gear on the 06/07 is much wider than the newer ones. I hate the 6th gear on the 09+. Makes you wind it out at higher speeds. I have an 09 bottom end on my 07 after a couple years with the 06 - and I hate it. I swear I'm swapping it back over the winter. Anyways.......

06/07 lightly used for $2,500 gives you a lot left over for the mods you know you will end up doing.

I'm with you on buying new. I looked at too many used ones in "excellent" condition with puddles of gas under them when I came to look at them. The way the math worked out for me; I paid $1000 more to get a new (old stock) '09 bike, with a 1 year warranty. I know my bike's history, and how it's been ridden and maintained. Well worth the extra $$$ IMO. Go for it!

Yeah, took me a while to find a used one so I don't blame you there. As soon as you buy one a sweet deal will pop on CL, so don't look back.

Well, Ive got to go for it, if you do scan Craigs NJ you can find mine, a 2006 w/3k miles. 340BB kit, BBTM34 pumper new last fall, utah skidplate, acerbis tank, serious 90/10 tires, renthal bars. $3000. Its in great shape seriously, no puddles of anything, no leaks of anykind.

I would buy this bike before buying new. You're getting $1,000 right off the bat between the big bore kit, the pumper carb, the skid plate, and the acerbis tank. Actually, more than $1,000.

Chances are that if someone is a member on this forum and selling their bike, they were **** about maintenance.
