Most U.S. and international regs on age and licensing usually revolve more around the 250cc displacement size and high horsepower prohibitions. The 400 doesn't seem to fall close to either consideration. Like I said...it just seems an odd bike. I wouldn't even give a second look to the 400 Kawasaki when you can get that new Honda 500 twin...lighter and more horsepower...and probably costs no more. Look...I'm not carping about the 400 in a personal way. I'm very fond of most Kawasaki motorcyles.

It's funny that particular bike came out in '88 and was discontinued in '03. That's what I mean when I talk about being a little disappointed in the specs on this newer 400.

To get back on topic.....well done ahnh666 for teaching one of those pesky cbr250 riders a lesson!!

Only 5% of bikes on the road here are 500cc or over (mostly H-D's) with a handful of er6's/versys650's because they are made in Thailand. So an SF with a very unique 331 big bore kit can get a lot of sport/fun with all the 150's & 250's to play with.

Your experience of kicking a cbr250's butt is my almost a daily experience here....They just can't believe an SF(D-Tracker) can accelerate so fast & hit 100mph(160kmh). A 250ninja with pipe & airbox mod if a different animal though .....i can keep up with them side by side but rarely get ahead, which is equally annoying for the ninja rider!!

I am surely not going to be the only one here to call BS on that, am I?

LOL!...well, my eyes glazed over when I saw that they were speedo readings. Then take into consideration that I'm too lazy to try and make the metric conversion and well...

But seriously...one can't go by most of these factory speedos. I've seen some ridiculous readings from many of these OEM units.

I've seen my speedo read 96mph or 155kph. Was I going that fast? No. Adjusting the 10% it's off would be 86mph. That was with the help of an 18 wheeler. One good thing about a light bike, the eddy behind the truck really sucks you in and spits you out with a much more pronounced effect.
Normally running flat out I hover between 82 and 83 indicated.
The weird thing was I kept it at 96 until I had to slow down, then couldn't get there again without help.
It still takes forever to get to top speed though, in that regard the bike is a little on the slow side. My other bike will do 0-60 in 3+ seconds only using the first 2 gears, so my comparison isn't fair.
