Default installing new handle bars. Do i need to drill a hole in them

just bought a pro taper kx high bend handle bar for my 2010 klx250s and there is a locating pin for the headlight controls and the kill switch. I dont want to wreck a new set of bars so do i need to drill a hole for it or cut off the plastic locating pin

Cut off the pins on the controls.

DO NOT drill holes in the bars.

I did the unthinkable & drilled my Zeta fatbars!!

I'm hoping that these tiny holes i drilled don't compromise the strength of my bars......but i hated my switches moving/spinning on the bars!! After 8 months all is good...

Your choice Duff

Just a dab of silicon would have solved your problem too...

I like my controls to slip just a bit. Fewer things get broken off that way.

I agree with you offroad guys with not drilling the bars. I should have stated for the record that my bike is the SF model (Motard) for the road....i'm hoping not to be falling over in the mud or banging my bars against trees every week!

I don't recommend drilling either, but I doubt it becomes the weak point if you do drill it...

Just my opinion though.

A wrap of cloth tape on the bar will keep the controls from slipping around.

I've drilled bars for different reasons over the years and not had an issue as the only problems I've had were bending in a crash that would have done it drilled or not.
