You need to bend the tabs up on the locking washer. And I would suggest getting access to an impact gun to remove the nut. If you don't have an impact gun you will probably need at least one other person to sit on the bike and hold the rear brake while someone tries to loosen the nut. Just install the new one the same way the old one comes off.

Next question is did the parts guy give me the right sprocket? I ordered three things from the dealer and two of them were the wrong items so any help here would be appreciated. This is suppose to fit a Honda XR650l which is compatible with the KLX250 sprocket but I can't find a Moose website with the part numbers - Mine says #1212-0198.

You've got a winner KC! They did give you the right one! I'll come over and sit on your bike while you try and break the nut loose, but it will cost you a couple of Corona's! I am such a kind and considerate fellow rider!!!

I'm trying to remember what size socket it was, maybe a 27 or 28mm? Plus I'll bring the BIG breaker bar!

Make sure it has the shoulder on it, or you're going to have to get a spacer made. KK good luck getting that nut off.......and I'm not talking about Mark.[8D]

Deej, well we both tried and the sucker wouldn't budge even with both of us sitting on the bike - it was worth a laugh at least with both of us loosing balance and almost "cratering" the bike on the garage concrete! That thing does have reverse threads right? My shoulder does hurt, is that what you're talking about?? The sprocket is mounted with the etched part number towards the crank right? My kingdom for an air ratchet right now!

Hi Guys in case it helps, I ended up using the pipe from the vacuum cleaner over the ratchet, this gave me enought leverage to get that sucker loose.

Cheers
Chris.

We had a 4-foot long steel tube on a breaker bar and it didn't work. Mark is going to get a friends air compressor and air ratchet next week-so the adventure and the fun continues!
