I'd say kudos to IMS even if it takes longer. They at least they are planning on addressing the needs of their customers. I doubt this is going to be a hugely profitable item for them. The other manufactures have said they have no intention of making one at all. Based on previous emails I've received the folks at IMS seem to genuinely care about the sport and their customers and not just the bottom line. I tend to support businesses like that. I know as soon as the tanks come out I'm buying one (in black I hope).

I'm definitely in as soon as they are released... The 100ish mile reliable range sure makes planning riding loops a bear, since you always have to factor in at least one gas stop somewhere - usually that means slabbing it, which bites, as I'd rather stay offroad. I've gotten more miles, but in the backcountry with NO gas around for miles, I'd sure like some piece of mind.

We've found that depending on the terrain and whatnot (e.g. single-track versus fire roads) it can be even shorter. If they could bump us out to, say, 170 miles (plus or minus 10), well that'd be freakin' awesome.

The bikes are selling well enough that we should start seeing more and more aftermarket bits for it. Which rocks. Here's to the pioneers that jumped on the market, though!

I heard somewhere the KLX is now the second best selling dual sport after the KLR, it bumped the DRZ down to third place. If this is true, it should mean a reasonable amount of sales for IMS.

If the tank happens, and I can get one installed before next summers riding season, I will be one happy rider.
