I wondered why you put the instruments and ignition back on the KLX.

a friend of mine has an 05 450 mxc.same bike no lights. he had to replace the mid gear in the starter. he was told that a lot ktm's have this problem.. no big deal as it's not expensive at all but something to listen for. also he says not to use the e start when it's cold out. use the kick starter. some thing about the battery getting fried. GREAT bike though if i had the skill to ride it i'd have one too. congrats

I'm still in the process of uncorking it - like I mentioned it is pretty stuffed up from the factory. Hopefully the jet kit will be here tomorrow. I thought it might come today, but no luck. Also, I've got a front and rear sprocket ordered to be here on Friday. The stock gearing is so tall I think first would be useless in some of the tight trails I ride on. And this is coming from me who likes the stock gearing on the KLX when many folks here think is overly tall, so you can imagine what this one is like. Just to give you an idea, the stock final drive gearing is 15:45 and to get first gear down to approximately the same speed as the KLX's 1st gear, it takes 13:52! That ratio will also happen to make its 6th gear about the same as that of the KLX's 6th, so the tranny will be just about the same as the KLX in that regard, after the gearing change.
So, yes, you might find it odd that I've got this new bike but now I am KLX'ifying it. Something wrong with this picture.
