2500 rpm's is too low to be riding this bike especially with only 500 miles. your bike is not completely broken in and chugging the motor like that is BAD. keep the rpm's up at or above 4000 unless your starting or stopping. as far as starting goes get the bike spinning quick. don't spend too much time below 4000. it should really be at 5000 or higher but i'm feelin' that your relatively new to the sport and are unsure of the bike and your abilitlies. if i'm wrong don't be offended i mean no insult. just trying to help a bit.

Welcome to the forums. Glad to see another mole. These bike make noise. Sort of like a sewing machine on super high speed. But it comes and goes as the engine breaks in and the cam chain adjuster notches up. No worries man just ride and enjoy.

[QUOTE=3L4NS1R;315256]Wait, so breaking in the bike you should keep it above 4000rpm? Manual says 3000? A random website i found said 6000? who do i listen to!!! :O[/QUO
a good portion of us did the mototune method or a slight variation of it. i went and found it for you. read up and ask any questions you might have.

wow! this works? its completely the opposite to the manual...
if I've already done 300 kms the way the manual dictates, should I change to something more along the motoman route now? or keep going the way i have?

You can't do the Mototune method if you already rode the bike. It has to be done with a new engine. But just ride it varying the rpm's up and down and the bike will be just fine.
