Go Mahogany or Teak, Seal it and it should be good for about 50 years.

Deej, you should make it out of plastic(pvc, uhmw, or something like it). It will last forever and can be easily cleaned. Plus those wood chips probably make an awful mess when you bore that recess

If I were to buy today, I'd probably go with the HMF slip-on.

As far as the Evo-X is concerned, so far it seems like a quality product, but time may prove otherwise. From the looks perspective, I still like it better than the Muzzy, despite someone's comment that it looks like it needs some ointment. (LMAO when I first read that!!! ). From a sound and power perspective, the Big Gun and Muzzy are probably too close to notice a difference ... it's probably more dependent on the other mods that go with it (e.g. air intake, carbs, and jetting.) The HMF is probably a close contender in that regard, too.

Fromthe "customer management" perspective ... yeah, some people have lucked out, but to me that's like saying its possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Mike

P.S. - Hey mooredan, thank's for editing your message ... I wouldn't want anyone to think I hang out with the wrongbunch of people.

Sorry about that Mike -- don't know what I was thinking. Unfortunately I didn't catch my mistake before others quoted my post.

My Muzzy arrived today after a SNAFU with shipping. I ordered it from starcycle.com who just seems to be broker for Muzzy. The first pipe was shipped directly from Muzzy to me, however they sent it C.O.D.

starcycle had all ready charged my credit card, so I wasn't going to pay for it again. Got them on the phone, they said refuse the C.O.D, apologized for the mixup and got a new pipe on the way (from Muzzy again).

Installed the pipe with a quiet core and spark arrestor and I must say, it's loud. I've read that it will quiet down once the packing starts to expand. But it sounds really good.

Got the headpipe off now and have drilled a hole for an O2 sensor for carb tuning. Getting the fitting welded on tomorrow.

do not listen to these BG bashers. BigGun makes awesome exhausts that will last. the older BG pipes had some problems where they went into the canister. the new ones are better. the BG makes more documented power than Muzzy or any other cheap slip-on noisemaker. muzzy has terrible fitment problems and to change out the packing you have to drill out the rivets. the BG just unbolts and it fits like a glove. the muzzy will turn blue after the first heat cycle. the BG has ceramic coating and stays looking like chrome. however if you do nick the ceramic coating it could rust. this is why some are starting to rust. the BG sounds tough and it barks big. the Muzzy hangs way down in the rear of the bike and has a gay looking sportbike endcap sticking out. it looks terribly out of place. this guy here bashing BG doesn't even own one and doesn't even have a Muzzy so how can you trust what he says. there are documented fitment issues on this website if you search regarding the muzzy and it fitting right on the 250. some have had to dent in their midpipe just to clear the rear footpegs or even remove them. do you really want to dent in your $400 exhaust that turns blue immediately? just another perspective. go BG, you won't regret it.
Yawn.

Two words, buddy.

I know there is some question about whether it is rated to the temps that your exhaust can get to, but I've got to think that it would do better than nothing. If you don't use that, do you have room for some small split ring washers?
