Ignition timing?

Ignition timing?
Just wondering if anyone out there knows what the ignition map on our KLX looks like?
I'm trying to figure out if these things pull timing out above 8 grand, from the dyno runs I seen posted it looks like these things do.
I'm going to be doing some camshaft swapping and I'm wondering what timing these things really do and where.

RE: Ignition timing?
Well I see if you have a 300 cdi box your running 15 deg. advanced at 5,000 rpm from the 250 box!
I know someone has had to change out there box with the 300 unit.
How did it turn out?
Anyone?

RE: Ignition timing?
I remember tremor38 say that bikes that he saw dyno'ed in japan with the 300, or the old klx250r(which is better than the 300 from what I hear) saw no apparent gains on the dyno, but the riders reported improvement by the seat of the pants dyno. I think someone on hear had actually got the 300 cdi working on our bikes

RE: Ignition timing?
Check out this thread: https://www.kawasakiforums.com/m_619..._1/key_/tm.htm
I still don't have the KLX300 CDI working yet. At this point in time, I want to take a look at the KLX300 wiring diagram. I want to confirm my assumption on BK/W wire (kill function).
When I hooked this up to the KLX250S's BK/W, hitting the kill switch blew the main fuse. I believe that it is the kill function for the CDI but it may be hooked up differently on the KLX300
I never got a spark, another area of grayness was how to power the KLX300 CDI. I figured that either grabbing two yellows off the generator or hooking up 12VDC would work.
The timing curves between the KLX250R and KLX300 are a bit different. Probably the quickest way to change the timing would be to install a KLX250R CDI.
I'm not done dicking around with the KLX300 CDI yet, it's looking like it will be a winter project.

RE: Ignition timing?
I looked in the service man. and the timing for the 250 klxs is
250Klxs
1300rpm 10 advance
5000rpm 35 adv.
250klxr
1700 rpm 5 adv
3000 rpm 40 adv.
I'm not sure if the 250 r plugs are the same.
