The CDI can only be tested with specialized equipment, eg a peak detector circuit. Furthermore, it might be very difficult to diagnose an intermittent problem on the ignition components, thus I would suggest visiting the other possibilities first. Unless you have access to components known to be good for trial purposes.

Hey everyone!

Thanks for all your help. I have found the problem with the bike. I took the carb back off and had a look in the float bowl. At first I could see nothing but clean clean clean.... Then out of the corner of my eye I see a little white fluff floating on the side of the bowl. It was a tiny piece of a dandy lion. You know when they die off and you can pic one from the ground and blow off the top? That was it!!!! I guess it got in when I last cleaned it. Any how, after I put it all back together the bike started on first kick and idles great.

Thanks again everyone for your helpful advice.

P.S. Is there anywhere on this forum that covers KLX450 topics?

Good to hear you found it. And nice lesson for the rest of us.

And may as well try to post your 450 questions up here in this KLX250..it's really the most active one here and I don't see a 450 specific.
