In the woods - the bike is great. Light, nimble, decently quick. I do wish it had the power to loft the front end up in something other than first gear though

On the street - the bike leaves some to be desired. It's not bad up till 45 or 50, but above that it get's pretty sluggish.

In all - if you're going to be ON road more than off, I'd get a bigger bike. If you're going to be OFF road more, this bike is fun in the woods.

I'll probably be keeping mine the rest of the season, then getting something a bit bigger in the spring.

Are they capable of doing 70mph? And also how do they do loaded with around 100lbs of gear? Thanks.
Yeah. . . like the other's have advised. . . you need an ADVENTURE SPORT bike. . . one of the various 650cc on/off-road bikes MADE for carrying lots of gear and our own weight! Great photo of your sportbike on dirt! Beautiful country there!

As far as power im not too concerned about it, this bike will be for almost nothing but dirt as i will be keeping the Ninja around. Do you guys figure an open air filter muffler and a carb re jet will realy get it going? I know after i did that to my Ninja it was like a new bike. And i guess ill keep using the pickup for hunting and hauling animals out of the woods. Thats realy the only reason i would have more than 40lbs of gear with me.
As far as the pic of my Ninja, thats on a trail system above Cour De Allen Idaho (Canfield trail system) i was up there with a couple of buddies on 450 dirtbikes...

I have yet to do my mods (still acquiring parts). But from what I've seen from others if you threw just say a FMF Q4 system on or any other aftermarket system like four stroke works or something (or a stock KLX300 exhaust system, they're cheaper), took the airbox lid off, a Dynojet jet kit in, and did the crankcase vent bypass, and threw on the 13T front sprocket, and put in a UNI or Twin Air air filter, this will be a whole new machine.

Hey Dillon, I got an option for ya. Get the klx for lightweight skooting around and such. And Yes, new muff, filter and carb re-jet will help..but figure in a 340/331 kit too about $500. After that you got a nice lil dual purpose bike.

Now for the fun part. Have you looked at the ktm adv bikes....I got one and luv it. It is my street long distance go anywhere sled. If you are comfortable taking a ninja offroad you would just luv my adv.

Sell ninja and buy an adv to complement the klx.

btw you could hang a deer on the back of her no problems....in sugar sand no less.

Old pic when I got her before mods....got camera issues lately.... check a used one out.

I just got back from 700 miles on the KLX at 60 mph and 100 lbs of stuff. I could have rode that bike across the country. Its perfect.
