Default I must be getting old

Well since my bike is in the shop, it seems that I just couldn't keep my hands off my wife.........................................'s bike. I decided to do a little maintenance, and the first mod. The Yamaha XT225 is a cold blooded bike and usually take 10 minutes to warm up and has a bog in the throttle until the engine is completely warmed up. So the first thing that is suggested on the XT225 forum is to pull the brass plug on the bottom and run the screw all the way in and back out 3 full turns. I removed the gas tank which was pretty easy, then rotated the carb so I could drill a small hole and used a sheet rock screw and yanked that baby out. Two and a quarter turns in and three back out and I was sitting in butter, (not literally but you know) Well I was just in a hurry when I put the tank back on and forgot to hook up the gas line and when I turned the gas on my wife says in an excited voice "there something leaking!!" Oh well but of course I had to loosen the carb and spin it around, and in doing so I neglected to make sure all of the drain tubes were pointing back down and when I started the bike one of the drain tubes was touching the exhaust and melted right in half, GRRRR!! anyway I went to the local parts house and picked up a replacement and put that back on and then started it up and to my surprise an even smaller hose was touching the exhaust and again I melted another tube. WHAT THE?? Well by that time the parts house was closed. So tomorrow I head back down to get another hose. The oil change went without incident, I must be getting old to make a mistake like that........TWICE!!

Too bad you couldn't ride your KLX down there to get the hoses and save some gas. If you live about 15 miles from the nearest parts store or dealer like I do, that could be an expensive trip.

Yea no kidding. I am fortunate to live 2 miles from everything, which includes town, work, the trails and forest service roads....OK I'll shut up now before everyone wants to move here.

I keep telling my wife when she turns 36 that I'm trading her in for two 18 year old's. She usually is not amused but I'm gonna have to wait 5 years for that one.
