I like being different, B.G. endcap change.
Hey guys, finally got my 606's mounted up, and all the bearings in the swing arm greased and got it all back together. Piece of cake.
Well my big gun end cap started faded pretty bad, so i was thinking of what to do, i was going to paint it with header paint so it looked good. then i thaught why not just sand it all down, i was gonna polish it but i thaught if i scratched it or something id be pissed, so i just went with a brushed look. I started with 150 grit sandpaper, went to 220,320, then 400. I like how it turned out, ill get the red out of the screw holes in a bit, but i thaught id show you guys how it looks... i like it... o and a pic of the tool box i use

End cap looks a lot better. I like the way the bg looks but never cared for the red end cap. How hard was the anodizing on it, we get stuff anodized at work that 220 grit sand paper won't hardly scratch.

Well, evidently BG's 'anodizing wasn't all that! I like the new look, EMS. You won't have to buy ointment anymore either

I used a high speed wire wheel on a bench grinder to get it off,, came off in less than 3 minutes... and i used a smaller wire attachment on a high speed drill for the inside of the endcap.... i spend like an hour sanding it...

I think you would have to be careful, the wire wheel was taking the alum off... i had to watch, the steel wires were rippin right into it... so i would imagine sand blastin would do it too... unless its not that hight psi.... but you would have to be real careful. im sure it would work.

I don't know about alum, but sand blasting mild steel makes it brittle. Asafe way , maybe would be to have it soda blasted. I believe the reason is soda does'nt get the metal as hot and work harden it.
