I have my Muzzy now what with the carb?
I know this question has probably been answered but I can't seem to find it. I have my MUZZY on it's way and I need to know what exactly to do to the carb. Just change the jet?
Thanks so much. This forum is amazing.

RE: I have my Muzzy now what with the carb?
Are these the universal mods I'm needing to do with the MUZZY. I have a mechanic so I'm just trying to get him all the correct information.
1. N1TC Needle, Clip 2nd from top with Collar
2. 125 Main Jet
3. 40 Pilot
4. Fuel Screw 2.3 turns (stock was 1.5).
5. Crank Vent drilled to 3/8"
Thanks.

This might help you out.
• removed the air valve and plugged air box and carb
• drilled crankcase hole to 3/8â€
• removed the snorkel (high-flow on backorder – I may not use it)
• drilled the exhaust 1/2"
• changed main jet to 125
• changed to adjustable needle w/clip in position two
• drilled slide 7/64"
• reset suspension settings to stock specs (they were NOT correct, front forks weren’t even set the same),
• set fuel screw 2 1/2 turns out
• and as always, running premium fuel.

Whomever posted the running with premium gasoline tidbit is wasting money and power. The bike will easily run on regular gasoline. There is no advantage to premium other than the loss of power due to reduced BTU value from the octane enhancement.
I have a friend that did a real world (not theory) test with his KTM motard. The bike would loss 5 mph off the top end by changing to premium fuel.
I do not have enough space for the whole lesson but, basically the only way you get more power from premium fuel is when you modify the engine to the point where it needs it to prevent detonation. ie: bumping compression, advancing ignition timing etc.

I understand. I wasn't trying to be smart. Just tired I guess. Every once in while that issue comes up with my Ducati group. I guess from my perspective it is getting old. It is funny how bad information just keeps perpetuating itself.

im not disagreeing with u cowboy6, but why does kawasaki have it right on the sticker on the bike to run a minimum of 91 octane in the bike? ive been puttin super in mine since i bought it after seeing that sticker. maybe they think its worth the money to prevent/protect against knock? (after all it is only a 1.9Gal. tank)

That is because the octane number on the bike is the RON number. Check out this link for the down low.
After the lesson, there is a chart below. The 91 RON that is on your bike's sticker equates to the US rating of a bit over 87. I did the math and it comes out to exactly 87.55. I can assure you, that with no knocks in my KLX after 2500 miles(since May), our 87 is close enough.
