Rear (that was the question).
I have a MT-21 on the front (for now)

Steve, I'm not sure comparing how well a given car tire brand works really has much to do with how well the same brand in a given motorcycle tire will work. Heck, I seldom find that even the same front and rear tire in the same brand and model in motorcycle tires turn out to be the very best performing tire...especially in dirt tires. Apples and oranges perhaps.

I agree with that - I'm just talking about toughness, durability, consistency, and overall performance. I'm sure there are combinations out there that improve on that.

I haven't been on a bike for awhile... I've owned over a half dozen, but the last one I had I bought new - a '77 KE250. That's why when my neighbor said he was selling his '09 KLX250S with 2,000 miles on it for $2,800 I jumped on it - for old times sake! Riding it has been even more fun than I expected!

Wow!...the old KE250. You didn't see many of those back in the day. I had the '74 KS125 and the '74 F7-175 back then. Later I had the first KLX250...the KL250 4-stroke engine in the '78 KX125 chassis. Fun days for Kawasaki.

I put my new front tire on this weekend. Wow what a difference in the dirt, about 20 miles. This thing didn't slip out from me on any turn. I'm really happy with it so far. I've done about 20 mile of asphalt and haven't noticed any real issues with it. I'm sure it wouldn't be the greatest tire for leaning the bike over on pavement twisties but didn't slide on me, and the KLX is not a street bike. I'm sure its going to wear fast but that's not the reason I bought it. I will post back on the wearing. When I took off the MT21 I noticed that the tire wore unevenly. The knobbies were wore off on one side only so the tire was hopping on me. Never again will i buy that piece of s@#$ tire.

I've been running an XCMS paired with a MT43 on the rear and the combo has treated me great. I think you'll like the performance and wear of the XCMS.
