I Finally Did It
Hey everyone. I've been lurking on this site for almost a year now going back and forth between the KLX and DRZ. Well, I finally decided on the KLX. Picked up an 07 with 1500 mi, a Utah Cycle Works skid plate, and Tusk handguards on Friday.Stared at it all weekend. Stopped atMVD and got my temporary permit on the way home from work today and took my first ride (on the KLX and on a motorcycle for that matter!!!) around the neighborhood.Whata freakin' blast.Felt like 10 min had gone by but i looked at my watch and it was over an hour!Next on the agenda is a MSF course then hit the trails.

hey congrats on the new bike, and good thinkin going with theMSF course. they teach you all the basics and it takes care of the riding portion for your motorcycle lisence test. Knocks like 10% of your insurance too.

I took the MSF course prior to any test rides on anything. I had a couple of dealers twist my arm to take a demo ride but I didn't. Even though I have ridden motorcycles for many years in the past, I took a conservative route since road rash hurts! [sm=boohoo.gif]
In the 1300 miles I rode before my motorcycle quit running, the MSF course kept me from doing some stupid things in the learning curve that would have hurt my pride and probably skinned me a little.
Once I got surprised in a corner. I was going too fast and had a car pull over into my path of travel. [sm=yikesomg.gif]
Thanks to the MSF course, I went from a hard lean to upright, hit the brakes hard as I headed for a hard curb, leaned over again and missed the car the curb and dirt on the road. [sm=wootwoot.gif] Yea MSF!!! It worked!
That MSF course is worth every penny it costs IMHO. And, it will cut your insurance costs.

Know just what you mean, 'bout the staring at it.. This '07 KLX250 is my 5th bike, the last 3 were brand new! .... and I still would go out to just look at it for more hours than I want to admit. I just love the thing. It will do all that I ask of it. (And the one just before this one was the DRZ400S, which many rave about how superior it is to the KLX250....??? well, I was glad the day I got it, and even more glad to see it go to the next guy!
