I bought a new toy
2008 Husky TE250 (300cc)
Found it for a real "steal of a deal" on CraigsList
Wow. freak luck that found it. Then when I saw it... OMG, I just could not pass it up.
2008 Husky TE250 and only 1300 miles on it. Dirt cheap!
The dude was rich and did not seem to care that he was selling it cheap. He already had his new one. He does not ride much anymore but bought the new one anyway... He get's a new one every year and has Uptite (very well reputation Husky dealer in Irvine) do all the work on it - sweet. So he is unloading the "old one"
I asked him if he did anything to it. He said, "No, nothing... Well, George at Uptite did... " It has the 300 Athena kit and all the new mapping and Throttle tube etc etc. Score!!!!
Jpaul310... Let's go riding on Friday... Any body else?

It definitely has more power than the Kawi
It also has a burst of power that hits at about 3000 - 3500 rpm. It needs a bit deeper 1st gear for slow climbing... Always room for improvement. Dirt biker guys are never "completely" happy. But the Husky is peaking the meter.
So the maiden voyage went like this. Miles 1-4 on the trip meter were spent putting around and getting used to the bike, miles 5-8 were a little worrisome that this is not as comfortable as the kawi. By mile 12, I was in love with the Husky. Husky is great.
It also runs out of gas at 37.1 miles.... correction 37.0 miles. I pushed it the last .1 miles to the car... Yup, I'm feeling lucky I only had to push .1mile
When it is completely out of gas the fuel light comes on... Just in case it is not completely freaking obvious haha
I am in good spirits about the whole thing cuz I made it almost all the way back to the car... I'll have to tell you about when I see you next.
I'll need to find a place to mount a fuel bottle or two
There is a HP site for Athena that says the TE250-300 kit (I have it on mine) is 43hp@10800... See below. (Greg is my buddy with the CRF250X - after a Hot Cam he is probably 34-ish HP) HP is kinda arbitrary because there is so much more than HP about how a bike feels. Of course you already know this...
http://www.bigborethumpers.com/athena.html (all the way down at the bottom of the page)
I heard the TE250 is in the mid30's, I'd believe high 30's easy. 43hp sounds a bit high, but it kicks some butt that is for sure. it is easy to lighten up the front when needed. I gave it a little too much throttle off a little drain off rut (kinda like a single whoop) and caught a bit of air, yikes. There is good news and bad news with catching a little air. The good news is that it is fun. The bad news is that it's fun, Ha!
It goes right where you point it and it is really easy to ride. It took a little to get used too but as I said, 12 miles in and I really liked it! I am still just a trail rider. Exploring and enjoying the time outside goofing off. It is nice to have the power and feel of a lighter more nimble bike. Even if you are just a "grocery getter" it is more fun in a sports car than in a mini van
I think the Suspension is great!!!!! Light and maneuverable and lots of torque... An awesome bike!!!
It just needs a tank larger than 1.58 gallons and maybe one tooth off the front sprocket
I am still keeping the KLX351
