And don't forget to do some weight lifting and strength building exercises - you'll be glad you did.
That's a good tip. Something I probably wouldn't have thought of until I was out there panting and sweating. I've been kinda half assed about working out lately anyway, this is a good enough reason to crank it up a bit.

But the dunes will "make you strong!" lol, more fun than hitting the gym.

The few times I actually tried my klx in the sand my front end constantly felt like it was going to slide out from under me.I don't know if it's the tires or the bike because I can take the yz or ttr and they feel right at home on whatever terrain I ride.

Maybe the it's the soft springs of the KLX that cause the "tucking". Might help to crank up the rebound and damping to stiffen things up.

???

Sand likes power based on my very limited experience. Bone stock from a dead start it will struggle. Keep your weight as far back as possible because the front tire will tuck or washout with little warning if you put any weight on it.

Given the number of people who agree on the front-end squirrelliness in the sand, I'd say this is probably a trait of the KLX geometry more than anything else.
At first I thought it was the weight of the dual sport, unfamiliarity with the new bike, etc.
But I've come to realize that it's probably just a handling characteristic of the KLX.

Couldn't it just be that the KLX doesn't have the power required to keep the front end light in the sand?

My ttr doesn't either, my klx would eat it up,but the ttr will wheelie alot easier.I think it has a much lower first gear.
