Deej is right, moding a bike is a way of gtting to know the machine, for guys that haven't had a chnace to get mechanical before, bikes are the best way to learn about that sort of thing. 6HP is about a 30% gain, in the car world that represents many kilobucks. 6 p is a good kick in the pants for this bike. The numbers don't mean that much but it is the feeling of changing things to get results that you can feel. Like sail trimming on a boat. You don't have to do it but when you are into it, then it is fun!!
My 1st wrenchin was probably on my old dirt bike some 25 years ago...Best thing was when you tore it apart and put it back together and it ran...So very true....Modding is the best way to get to know your bike...

And you have to ask yourself: If you give NASA your engine and they tear it apart and rebuild it to make a gazillion horsepower, or maybe respectable, long-lasting numbers, is it even a Kawasaki engine anymore? If everything in it is NASA and they designed it, is it even the same thing? I think being realistic, this engine is only going to make X horsepower as a Kawasaki engine. What that X is, I honestly don't konw, I'm a psychology major, not a mechanical engineer. I would GUESS that 30-ish is a reasonable high water mark.
Its like Jeff Gordon's "stock" car. Yeah it has stickers on it calling it an Impala, but I challenge you to find one common part between that vehicle and what my local Chevy dealer has on the lot.

As in the physical exterior dimensions? They're running 350s and GM isn't putting a 350 in an Impala far as I know. I think they're running that new 327 for V8s in the cars now.

Not sure on that one. I just heard Dave Dispain on Wind Tunnel say stock dimensions. That being said we could humbly defer to Wood Chuck # 47 and get a definitive ruling. what was the original topic of this thread anyway? I'm really learning to like you guys
