I got a 1.125 inch lowering link from kouba link (KLX3 model). Love it. Considering lowering the front too.

Is sliding the forks up the triple clamps wicked easy? Just loosen the bolts, slide em up, measure (kouba recommends only 0.5" with stock handlebar risers), and tighten? What is the torque setting? Any advice would be great. New to bikes but work on my diesel truck alot.

Thanks, Dave

Yeah, it's that easy. Top clamp bolts are 15 ft-lbs. Bottom bolts get 18 ft-lbs. Thats on a 2009 and newer anyway. Probably the same for yours. I pushed mine up til they almost touch the handle bars.

Thanks Lotrat,

To the OP. I hope this is helping you too

One more question Lotrat. I got one fork to slide up but the other is stuck. I tried tapping around with a mallet and running with the bike and hitting the front brake but no luck . Can I use wd40 or liquid wrench in the clamp areas?

This is definitely the way to go. Too much sag and the bike will handle badly, much less the suspension sucking. I like mine the way it is, but links are really the best way to drop it.

A little WD won't hurt. It's easier to do it on the ground so you can use the weight of the bike to help slide them up.

I keep a couple of medium sized common screwdriver blades for this purpose...old screwdrivers that I've cut the handles off and the shaft at about 4". Now, you don't go crazy with these things, but you gently tap them into the upper and lower clamp splits just a little bit...repeat...just a little bit. The fork tubes should rotate out with some ease at this point. Nylon disc brake pucks for mountainbikes would probably work well too if one was too squeamish for the screwdriver blades.

Sweet, the screwdriver trick worked. I got it done. Cheers, Dave
