How did you break-in your new KLX250

It's not unusual for the mechanic that services the bike at the dealership to hit WOT in at least a couple of gears the first time they crank the bike up. That probably helps seat those rings, regardless if the original owner subscribes to that philosophy or not.

I used a more or less Mototune style break in. Six thousand something miles on it now, and it runs great and burns no oil.
There are applications where a very specific 'break in' or 'run in' procedure is important, but these bikes aren't one of them. Now, a traditional flat tappet cam in a classic American V-8 is a different story....

Hate to tell you but,,,,,
the factory broke it in for you already.
When they first start the bike they run it in on the dyno (ala mototune). then crate it up for shipping. At least that is what i have seen on TV when there was a tour of the kawasaki factory. Saw it on Speed TV.

Maybe the thought behind the limits on RPM for the first while is for new riders to get familiar with the machine before they giv'r?!
