That was in reference to what your dealer will say when you need the new motor you mentioned in your post.......

The air intake is just below the seat, so I'd consider a few inches below the bottom of the seat in the danger area to account for splash. But people drown bikes all the time in water crossings - like tipped over submerged. The undrown procedure is basically to remove the airbox, filter, etc, wring it all out - tip the bike over and drain good. While it ain't good for it, it'll likely still run but as NS say, if you get dirt or sand in there, then its pretty much history.

I've never had to do a bike but I've dunked many an outboard in salt water. The outboard SOP is to never crank the motor if you suspect you sucked water, it doesn't compress and tends to bend things. After doing what Nobrakes said above remove spark plug and crank the motor a few times to help blow out any water. Spray WD-40 into cylinder and repeat..... and yes I got a small can of WD in my tool bag. Change oil ASAP, water may have made it through your airbox drill mod into the crankcase.

You probably only want to go to about your exhaust pipe i learned the hard way. them streams can be mighty cold trust me i has about 3 gallons in my boots but i will know next time. and it kinds depends on how you approach and ride theough it so good luck.
